Taoyuan International Airport Corporation continues to promote smart airports and is persistently improving service quality through technology. In order to improve the airport taxi scheduling management system and help drivers increase driving income, it has utilized electronic dispatching to replace traditional manual dispatching. Recently, the company has taken a further step to introduce an online smart scheduling system APP that allows taxi drivers to easily obtain permits outside the airport park without the need to wait in long queues within the park, thus reducing unnecessary clustering during the epidemic prevention period. This not only saves time, effort, fuel and money, improves service efficiency, and enables drivers to expand their business opportunities, but also allows TIAC to make more efficient planning and use of parking space.

Airport scheduled taxis were previously manually dispatched. Before picking up inbound passengers, drivers must first proceed to the taxi depot at Taoyuan Airport No. 2 parking lot, pick up the number manually, and wait onsite. Based on sequence and traffic volume on the day, drivers then proceed from the parking lot to the taxi boarding point to queue for passenger pick-up. After passengers alight, drivers must first clean and disinfect the vehicle in accordance with the SOP, and then return to the parking lot to repeat the same queuing procedure before picking up passengers again. During the epidemic period when the number of inbound passengers is small, drivers often have to wait for a long time in the depot, thus affecting occupancy rate.

After the Taoyuan Airport Taxi Self-Discipline Committee introduced the online smart scheduling system in late August in response to epidemic prevention, drivers can now directly queue up through the system APP to obtain numbers, and no longer need to make a special trip to the parking lot to obtain a number manually, avoiding crowds and saving time, energy, and fuel costs, benefiting in particular drivers who live outside of Taoyuan. Because the system will actively remind the drivers recommended time of arrival at the airport, drivers can make flexible use of their time or pick up passengers outside of the airport to increase their income. As long as they arrive at Taoyuan Airport before the scheduled time to check in, they can proceed to pick up inbound passengers at the boarding point. The scheduling system information is also open and transparent. All drivers follow the relevant queuing mechanism for picking up passengers, thereby achieving fair, reasonable and efficient management.

The smart online scheduling system saves queuing time for taxi drivers whose livelihoods are affected by the epidemic, and also brings greater convenience and flexibility. For these reasons, the system has been widely acclaimed by drivers following its launch. After the epidemic is over, new features will be added, including enabling passengers to make reservations for return trips to the airport. This function will not only provide passengers with better service quality, but also increase operating income for drivers. Parking lot space can also be made available to the public, thereby improving the issue of extremely limited parking options during travel peak seasons.
