Terminal 1 Renovation Plan
Terminal 1 Renovation Plan

The T1 renovation project began in the December of 2009, and was completed by June 2013.

The project was supervised by the Japanese architect Norihiko Dan, who designed a smooth curved roof to be imposed on the original terminal building, bringing natural light into the interior and adding an area of 13,000 square meters for the installation of duty free shops and Food and Beverage options.

The renovation project elevates the overall service standards and the passenger capacity of T1 from 12 million to 15 million.

Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport Access MRT System Project
Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport Access MRT System Project

The Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport Access MRT System Project in progress will construct 4 terminals within the Airport Park --T1, T2, T3 and the CAL Park station.

The current plan provides for railway transportation between Taipei and the airport where a one-way non-stop train takes about 35 minutes, and a one-way Taipei-Airport-Chungli regular train takes about 50 minutes between Taipei and the airport.

During peak hours, the non-stop and regular trains can together transport 7,656 persons per hour, making them the primary transportation for the Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport Access in the future.

Pavement Rehabilitation and Navigation Facilities Upgrading Project
Pavement Rehabilitation and Navigation Facilities Upgrading Project

Taoyuan Airport has operated for more than three decades since its opening in 1979.

To ensure following the highest standard of airside safety and quality, we started a series of upgrading airside facilities to meet future development requirements.

A large-scale refurbishments named “ PAVEMENT REHABILITATION AND NAVIGATION FACILITIES UPGRADING PROJECT” has been launched since 2014 to renovate the approximately 1 million square meters of runways and taxiways.

The benefits of the project include:

  1. The dimensions of facilities (such as widening curvatures, clearing runways and taxiways) have been modified to accommodate Code F aircraft such as Airbus A380.
  2. Runway 05R-23L has been extended to 3,800 meters for greater runway flexibility.
  3. Newly added Rapid exit taxiways and extended SP taxiways to increase the capacity.
  4. Surface drainage systems are improved.
  5. Airside lights are renovated to raise system reliability and effectiveness.
  6. Instrument landing systems are upgraded to raise runway effectiveness during times of low visibility.

Starting in March 2013, the construction has been completed with inspection, acceptance and all needed improvements to 24th December 2015 within 2 years.

Terminal 3 Area Development Plan
Terminal 3 Area Development Plan

In order to accommodate the strong passenger demand and to cope with the high growth in Taoyuan airport in future, the Terminal 3 area project has been started its general planning work in 2013. In 2015, the international competition of Terminal 3 design has been also completed followed by its detailed design & construction work in next 5 years.

The completion of this project is an important opportunity that will determine whether Taoyuan International Airport can become a transportation hub of East Asia.

Terminal 3 is a multifunctional facility integrating a passenger terminal, commercial space and transportation center.

In future, the facility will be linked with Terminal 2 to create a “Mega-Terminal” providing high-quality and high-level passenger services.

Terminal 3 will also provide passengers with a link to the departure hall in the north expansion area. Consequently, the project is located in a core position at TTIA and will be an essential part of future development plans.
