Taoyuan Airport Company, in cooperation with the instructions of the Central Epidemic Command Center, has coordinated and integrated all relevant airport units to successfully prevent the invasion of the epidemic, thereby ensuring the safety and livelihood of all Taiwanese citizens! President Tsai Ing-wen, in recognition of the hard work and contributions of TIAC staff, personally presented the "Epidemic Prevention Medal" yesterday (27th) to thank this group of heroes who have made silent contributions to epidemic prevention. On behalf of the company, Chairman of TIAC Lin Kuo-shian thanked President Tsai and Premier Su Tseng-chang for their affirmation of the entire TIAC staff, and encouraged all colleagues to continue to practice stringer epidemic prevention so as to defend the nation from the ongoing pandemic.

The Central Epidemic Command Center held the "COVID-19 Epidemic Prevention Documentary and Epidemic Prevention Medal Award Ceremony" yesterday in Taipei City, commending individuals and group representatives who have made outstanding contributions to the prevention and control of COVID-19, including Taoyuan International Airport Corporation which coordinated the implementation of the epidemic prevention fleet. The Taoyuan Airport epidemic prevention fleet (taxi fleet and rental car fleet) responsible for transporting inbound passengers were also invited to the ceremony and were commended by President Tsai.

President Tsai thanked the colleagues at the airport for their dedication and hoped that the epidemic prevention team will continue to safeguard the front-lines of the country; Premier Su Tseng-chang also emphasized that the COVID-19 pneumonia epidemic is still extremely perilous in many places abroad. Although Taiwan has managed to keep the virus at bay at this stage, there is as yet no room for relaxing prevention measures. He called on the entire community to persist in prevention efforts to safeguard the nation, and continue to be a blessed land in troubled times. He also stated that Taiwan will continue to reach out to friends across the globe so that Taiwan may gain critical acclaim and remain a strong member of the global community, thus reinforcing citizens’ confidence in the government.

Chairman Lin Kuo-shian pointed out that in order to effectively stop the epidemic, the government has provided epidemic prevention fleet services at Taoyuan, Songshan, and Kaohsiung airports. Among all inbound passengers, 44.2% of travelers landing at Taoyuan Airport use this service, while the cumulative number of passengers has reached 124,000. Strict tracking, disinfection and epidemic prevention measures have also been enforced on passengers from entering the airport and filling in information to returning home or proceeding to the epidemic prevention hotel. The epidemic prevention team also completes every task according to the SOP to ensure the safety of drivers and passengers. The front-line personnel of the epidemic prevention team therefore deserve recognition for their considerable effort.

Since the outbreak of the epidemic, TIAC has been cooperating with the epidemic command center to implement a number of epidemic prevention measures. In addition to coordinating various units at the airport to cooperate with the government in executing special charter flights, assisting many citizens stranded abroad to return to Taiwan safely, the company has also actively promoted epidemic prevention mechanisms and cooperated with CDC various epidemic prevention works, including assisting in the establishment of “temporary quarantine stations” and arranging related traffic flow and spatial planning. TIAC has also significantly increased the frequency of cleaning and disinfection in the terminal buildings, and coordinated with the Ministry of Transportation and Communications’ “Airport to Residence Transportation Services for Subjects of Home Quarantine” by integrating and coordinating transportation operators such as airport scheduled taxis, rental cars, and buses. Epidemic prevention fleet services were furthermore made available from March 4 to effectively prevent the invasion of the epidemic.

Chairman Lin emphasized that Taiwan’s epidemic prevention performance this time has won international recognition and, as a result, Taiwan has become one of the safest countries in the world and the top destination for tourists. He further stressed that he and every TIAC colleague will uphold the words of encouragement given by President Tsai and Premier Su by continuing to coordinate the implementation of the epidemic prevention fleet at the gateway to the nation, uphold rigorous epidemic prevention, and maintain the best service quality, so that all passengers entering and leaving the airport can rest assured, and also ensure that all Taiwanese citizens can stay safe and healthy.
